Curio welcomed guests to the Cranfield Innovation Centre in September for an exciting day of practical sessions on the newest rising main maintenance technologies.
The day began with a warm welcome from our founder Howard Marles, reaffirming Curio's commitment to driving smarter pipeline solutions in partnership with Reinert-Ritz — the established German pipeline product manufacturer.

Curio and Reinert-Ritz then showcased Quick-Pig, Quick-Twist, ReinoGrip products, presenting their capability to simplify pipeline maintenance and installation.

Real-life stories were shared by Wessex Water about the success of pigging across their rising main networks, and by Severn Trent, who walked us through the implementation of Quick-Pig at its Cropston wastewater treatment site and successful flow rate increase after pigging the 2km rising main at Cropston WTW. The installation eliminated the need for ice-pigging, tankers and a rescue team for confined space entry.
The afternoon workshops featured demonstrations of full-scale Quick-Pig working stations, Quick-Twist versus current market dismantling joints, ReinoGrip pipeline installation, and flange connections, while Intelligent Gels gave an overview of rising main innovations suited for pipelines in the UK.
Throughout the day attendees heard that Quick-Pig reduces long-term costs, increases safety for maintenance teams, streamlines in-line installation and simplifies self-compliance checks.

To put our guests’ newfound knowledge to the test, we organised an observation quiz with the ultimate prize — a free Quick-Pig station and an all-expenses paid trip to Reinert-Ritz's facility in Germany. Congratulations to the attentive winner!
Thank you to everyone involved and to our guests from Severn Trent, Wessex Water, Anglian Water, Cappagh Group, Plasflow, Egeplast UK, Intelligent Gels and Westrade Group! We hope to see you at our future events - keep an eye on our updates.

Get in touch if you'd like to find out more about Quick-Pig and PE100 pipe fittings and flanges.
