CASE STUDY
Micropollutant Removal Frankton
Severn Trent, UK
Micropollutant removal from wastewater
Curio worked with Severn Trent Water to build the UK’s first ozone treatment plants to test the impact of ozone as an additional treatment to address micropollutants such as pharmaceuticals and antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
The investment is part of Severn Trent’s Green Recovery Programme, with the water treatment plant in Frankton, Warwickshire, the first to install the new technology in 2024, helping improve water quality in the River Teme.
Two further plants Ludlow and Itchen Bank in the Severn Trent region are also now on stream.
July 2024: Civil engineering work finalised

August 2024: Vessels installed

January 2025: Pre-commissioning tests carried out

March 25: The plant starts to produce ozone ready for full commissioning

Brave thinking.
