'Quick Pig' Technology wins award following UK debut in the Scilly Isles

We are delighted to announce that Quick Pig technology has won the Innovative Technology award at this year’s UKSTT Trenchless Technology Awards.

This was following its successful use in a project carried out by Glanville Environmental and South West Water on the Scilly Islands to replace the 20 year old rising main.

Quick Pig technology cleans and maintains pipelines by propelling a device through the pipes using pumped fluid, removing buildup without the need for heavy equipment. It addressed the significant logistical challenges of working on a remote island, where traditional maintenance methods were impractical.

The judges also praised its role in meeting the Isle of Scilly’s sustainability targets, with the system’s installation including the use of recycled materials and removing any future need to use a mechanical plant to cleanse the line.

Curio Water hopes the recognition of its success will see its broader use across the Scilly Isles and the mainland.

Howard Marles CEO of Curio Water said: “This is a fantastic piece of technology that we are proud to supply for those looking for quick, safe and sustainable solutions to the maintenance and cleaning of their rising mine and pressure lines. We’d like to congratulate and thank the team at Glanville Environmental and South West Water for all their work on this project.”
