Agreement will enhance UV treatment systems for municipal and water utility customers in the UK and Ireland

Curio Water has formed a new strategic partnership with UV Guard, a globally recognised UV disinfection manufacturer, as it looks to enhance its offering to the UK water industry for drinking and wastewater treatment systems.

Under the agreement, Curio Water will become the sole supplier and authorised service and maintenance provider for UV Guard within the municipal and water utility sectors across the UK and Ireland. The collaboration will allow Curio to deliver a comprehensive range of UV system solutions — from new installations to smart, cost-effective refurbishment and retrofit options that extend the life and performance of existing UV assets.

The partnership between Curio and UV Guard will be centred around the refurbishment of open-channel and closed-reactor UV systems operated by municipal and water utility customers, providing a retrofit solution that can upgrade existing UV systems to enhance their lifespan by five to ten years. Each retrofit project delivered by the partnership will aim to deliver higher efficiency, reduced downtime, and lower operating costs, while ensuring operational resilience over the next AMP period with full spares, service support, and training.

By focusing on retrofitting and modernising existing UV disinfection systems, Curio and UV Guard plan to help municipal and utility operators extend asset life, maintain regulatory compliance, and optimise operational efficiency well into the next AMP cycle. This approach is intended to reduce the need for large-scale capital investment while supporting sustainability goals across the sector.

The partnership will also enable feasibility studies into next-generation treatment processes for micropollutant and PFAS removal, building on Curio’s work in launching the UK’s first micropollutant removal plants with Severn Trent.

Howard Marles, Founder and CEO of Curio Water, said:

“This partnership with UV Guard will allow us to support the UK and Ireland water industry in updating and future-proofing its UV disinfection systems, while driving forward innovative processes for removing micropollutants from the UK’s waterways. UV Guard brings a wealth of global experience and technical expertise, and Curio is very excited to collaborate with such a respected partner to deliver sustainable, cost-effective solutions that benefit the water industry and the wider environment.”

Jack Robbins, General Manager - UK & EMEA at UV Guard, said:

“We’re delighted to partner with Curio Water to strengthen our presence in the UK and Ireland and to support municipal and water utility customers in achieving the highest standards of UV disinfection. Curio’s technical expertise, strong relationships across the water sector, and interest in developing innovative solutions for the removal of micropollutants make them an ideal partner for UV Guard.”
